Updated look at my kitchens

I decided after over a year living here and trying things my hubbys way the kitchen being downstairs was not working for me so I moved it upstairs and moved the kitchen from upstairs down and it is working out so much better for me I can be up here while the kids are playing outside.   This also give me a lot more room to work with when I am cooking because I did not have very much counter space down stairs but have a lot upstairs.  So here are a few pictures for you to see and then there is a video where I walk you through both kitchens listed below.  I hope you enjoy.    Video links http://youtu.be/iABZ8hkBE9Y

Laundry Room Organization

Hi all,  It has been a long time since I was able to blog on here but I want to get into a regular posting schedule again.  So I thought that I would start with my laundry room.  This was a project that I have been wanting to do for a long time.  My laundry room is a very small room so it is hard to do laundry in there, so I needed some new organization to make things easier and to make the best use of the space.

I will give you a break down on how i organized the space.  (There will be a video link at the bottom of this post walking you though the organization that I did.)

First I started with the top shelf on right hand side when you walk in the door.  In this area I moved the boxes from the under the stairs closet that hold my keepsakes.  (Things like kids baby books and such as well and wedding things and such that I just dont want to get rid of but do not need to access regularly.) The next shelf down holds blankets.  The next shelf down holds 3 buckets that have each one of my kids name on it their clean clothes go in these and they put them away.  In front of this shelf is a tension rod that holds hang up clothes that are not being stored in the closet at the moment and that need to dry.  All of this is hid by a shower curtin.

Here is three shelves and a peg board it is holding things in this order, top shelf is tools and dryer parts as well as paint.  Second shelf is letters that can be hung in the kids room and other extras like the wii box and a hat.  I have left the third shelf empty for things that need to be used for my daughters cheer squad.  Then below is a peg board that hold extras from couponing like floss and razors and such.

These three shelves I installed.   Top shelf holds a basket that holds my extra drying mats for the dish drainers in the kitchens as well as the jugs for making laundry soap.  Second shelf is empty for now.  Third shelf holds a basket that has things like tooth paste and samples of shampoo and conditioners. and a rag for wiping off the washer and dryer.
I added this shelf above the washer and dryer and it holds my laundry soap and starch for ironing and stuff.  There is also a basket for things I find in the washer.
Here is a shelf system that I installed the top shelf holds a bucket that has cleaning supplies and then two empty containers that I put powder laundry soap in for the winter because we have no heat in this room  then the far container holds extra gifts to grab if I need to run out to a birthday.  Second shelf holds lightbubls, a extra air freshener then the box holds shoe polish and then on the far side is extra soap and fabric softener.

Then I keep my iron on the door with a over the door hanger.

A quick money saving tip

I have been doing this for about a year and it is working great for use it saves us 88.80 per month so now I have you wondering whag is this great money saving time I want 88.80 extra a month that is a phone payment or internet payment.  So here it is I buy 2 liter sodas mellow yellow is my hubbys drink of choice and he saved up all his empty 20 oz bottles and I refill them it is a simple as that.  Okay so here is How it works one 2 liter cost 1.45 at family dollar and 1 20oz cost 1.25 eavh 2 litter will fill 3 1/2 20oz.  My hubby takes 3 a day so that makes us need to use about 3 bottles a week.  It is that simple.  I like to use s funnel to prevent spills snd mess but when hubby fills them he does not use one that is just person choice.  I will put s picture in of what it looks like when I fill them.  Also if you csn find your brand on sale stock up I do.  When the dollar store puts them on s 3 for $3.00 I get a lot and that is a extra .35 per bottle that I save.

I hope you enjoy this and That it helps you save some money.

How to make Sidewalk Chalk Paint

Today I decided it was a nice warm day and it would be fun to make some sidewalk chalk pain I had found a post about it on http://pinterest.com/ and I will link it below for the source.  It was very simple and the kids had a great time doing it.

What you will need.
Corn Starch
Water
Food coloring
And some small containers (I used a egg carton)
Natural High Chocolate Fudge Mousse (Google Affiliate Ad)
Wilton 448965 Gel Food Colorin (Google Affiliate Ad)

All you have to do is mix equal parts of the water and corn starch together in the container. You could be done at this point but white chalk paint was a little to boring for us so we added in some food coloring for a pop of color and it turned out great.  It was a fun project for right before bed to get them all tired out.  (but would be great any time of day Haha)

They were having so much fun it was hard to get them to come back in!

By the way it looks like it is not going to show up very good when you first start to put it on the ground but as it dries it get brighter and brighter so just give it time to show up.

Also I found that if you want it to be chalk and not paint if you let it dry over night it would be had and work good as chalk

If you would like to see how we made the chalk and a good walk through of this you can check it out on my youtube channel here is the link to this video.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?edit=vd&v=BUKYT3O3uAo Enjoy!

Starting crossfit

Hello all I wanted to tell everyone about a new workout that i am trying it is called Crossfit training.  I am loving it.  I burn a lot of calories and I am loosing weight not so much in pounds but i have lost 3 1/2 inches over all in the last week to week in a half.  I have been trying to out some different calorie counters that you wear as I work out to tell me the amount of calories that work the best.  I started out with the slim coach and like it for awhile but it was not understanding the calories that I was burning on the elliptical so I switched to the BodyMedia and I really seem to be liking it. You can check it out at www.bodymedia.com I am loving this new training and I am still working out at the YMCA to work on my running but I am loving this.  I will keep you posted on how I am doing.   Below are a few of the Special K items that I am liking and that are helping me to loose weight Protein will keep you full so it is great for loosing weight.

I am loving these I hope that you will to.  I also like the protein shakes.  Protein was one of the hard things for me to increase so these things have been key.  I am feeling full and not eating as much.

Good luck in your journey we can take this journey together.
