In the last few weeks I have been looking at my progress as
a fifties housewife. I have found that
the way of life that best fits me for this project is to be in the mindset of a
fifties housewife, but to keep the clothing and appearance as a modern
day. My husband was not going to be seen
out with me looking like that. So my
plan for the next few weeks is to dress up in clothing that is right for this
time frame and to wear make-up and fix my hair every day. After the hair and make-up is done I will
start my daily duties of breakfast and cleaning then on to the lunch and clean-
up to start the supper prep early.
These last few weeks have been really tough on me in the
flying (keeping the house up) part of this because I have had sick kids. I am learning that I can confine the kids to
their room to rest in bed and check on them often and get the things that I
need to get done accomplished. I am also
facing the problems of not being up to full power myself as I was washing
dishes last Sunday and broke a glass and cut my hand. That landed me in the ER with three stiches
in my hand and causes me to move a little slower at my normal activities but I
am finding that if I just keep up with my routines(morning, afternoon, and
Before bed) I can keep up with the house.
The house may not look great but
the laundry is done and the dishes are done and there is supper fixed every night.
We have sadly had to put my husband’s grandma in the nursing
home in the last month we had a tradition of going to her house every Sunday
for Breakfast after church now that we do not have this place to go to we are
going to visit her in the nursing home but I think that me and my husband have
decided that we are going to start a new tradition of having the family to come
here for a Sunday of family. With my
newly cleaned house and my well stocked pantry this is possible as a fifties
housewife.
I will be checking back in a few days to let you know how
the progress is going and how the kids are feeling. Thank you for reading and if you like my blog
